The Lena Grant

The Lena grant is a $3000 grant to encourage the coverage of health care issues in the USA. In it's inaugural year, the Lena grant will be open to Women Photojournalists of Washington, DC members only (WPOW). This grant will fund a WPOW member to begin or complete a photography or video project, which focuses on an issue related to  health issues in the USA. Awards will be given based on a proposal and 6-10 supporting images, or a video. The subject matter is broad and can include: physical health, mental health, emotional health, addiction, PTSD and caregiving. The winner will be expected to provide work in progress, which will be used on our members’ blog, the HumanEYES USA blog and other photography blogs, to promote the photographer's project and the goals of WPOW and sponsors. The copyright will remain with the photographer. The Lena grant is also given to honor the memory of Lena Wallace, Molly Roberts' great-grandmother, who lived with wonderful grace and compassion while suffering from debilitating rheumatoid arthritis.

To submit to this grant please send your proposal of 500 words or less and supporting images or video (either by link or zipfile) to humaneyesusa@gmail.com. Submissions will be accepted from Nov.1- Dec 15th 2019.
