HumanEYES USA uses contemporary documentary photography, photojournalism, art, video and other media to encourage awareness of human rights issues and inform concerned citizens in the USA and abroad. HumanEYES was created by Molly Roberts and creative partners to expand the use of powerful visual imagery in alternative spaces and to increase the visibility important American issues.

Molly Roberts is a photographer and photography editor, currently Senior Photography EDitor at National Geographic Magazine, with 25 years experience in the magazine publishing world. She is an advocate for powerful visual storytelling and human rights.

 

Advisory Board:

Donna De Cesare is one of America's pre-eminent documentary photographers. She is the author of the book, Unsettled/Desasosiego,published in 2013 to considerable acclaim. She is also Professor of Journalism at the University of Texas, Austin. Her work has been recognized by National Press Photographers' Association, Duke University,Visa Pour L'Image and more.

Carol Guzy is a photojournalist for The Washington Post. She has won the Pulitzer Prize for photography four times in her extraordinary career. Her work has also been given the top award by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights for her series on infant and maternal mortality in Sierra Leone.
 

Leslie Thomas is the founding Executive and Creative Director of ART WORKS Projects. Leslie’s work has toured globally and been the recipient of grants from The National Endowment for the Arts, the MacArthur Fund for Arts & Culture, the Humanity United Fund and the Graham Foundation. She is committed to the use of art and design for public good.

Robert Wilson has been editor of The American Scholar since 2004. Before that, he was editor of Preservation, founding literary editor of Civilization, book editor and book columnist at USA Today, and an assistant editor at The Washington Post. He has taught writing at the University of Virginia, George Mason University, American University, and Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of two biographies: The Explorer King (Scribner, 2006) and Mathew Brady, Portraits of a Nation (Bloomsbury, 2013).

Creative Partner: Faces of the Central American Child Crisis

Michelle Frankfurter is an award winning documentary photographer based in Washington, DC. For more than 6 years she travelled along with Central American migrants on their harrowing journey on "la bestia", the decrepit Mexican freight train system,as they tried to find a safer place to live. Her project will be published in October 2014 by FotoEvidence in book entitled "Destino".
